BJP’s Kavinder Gupta Calls Ganderbal Attack ‘Pakistan-Sponsored’

BJP leader Kavinder Gupta condemned the recent terror attack on civilians in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it a cowardly act sponsored by Pakistan.

He remarked, “This tragic incident highlights the wrongness of such cowardly attacks. Pakistan-sponsored terrorism is at the root of these acts, and it must be firmly suppressed. Our security forces are doing commendable work to maintain peace, but these sudden attacks create tension.”

Gupta noted the progress of the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, including recent oath-taking ceremonies, and expressed concern over such incidents. “We have full faith in our security forces, who risk their lives in these operations. We hope that the terrorists will be neutralized soon,” he added.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the attack on his X account, describing it as a “despicable act of cowardice.” He assured that those responsible would face severe consequences and extended condolences to the victims’ families, while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The attack occurred when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Gagangir, resulting in the deaths of a doctor and six construction workers. The camp was housing workers from a private company involved in an under-construction tunnel project in the Gund area.

Sources indicate that the Pakistan-based terror outfit, the Resistance Front (TRF), has claimed responsibility for the attack on unarmed civilians. TRF Chief Sheikh Sajjad Gul, based in Pakistan, is believed to be the mastermind, with local operatives executing the attack after conducting reconnaissance for a month. Reports suggest that 2 to 3 terrorists were involved in targeting both Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri individuals.

The TRF has been active in targeting Kashmiri Pandits, Sikhs, and non-locals in the region over the past year and a half. This incident occurs amid a rise in terrorist activities, particularly by foreign mercenaries, in hilly districts of the Jammu division, which have experienced a series of hit-and-run attacks on security forces and civilians ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
