Celebi Aviation suspended at Bengaluru airport over Turkey-Pakistan row
The Indian government has suspended the operations of Turkish company Celebi Aviation at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, citing national security concerns. Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) confirmed the move, stating the suspension follows a directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
“To ensure continuity and operational stability, ground handling operations previously managed by Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd have been transitioned to other existing service providers,” BIAL said in an official statement.
The transition has affected over 500 Celebi staff members, who have now been reassigned to other ground handling agencies, according to airport sources.
Celebi Aviation had been managing ground operations for approximately 15 international and cargo flights in Bengaluru. Its services were officially transferred to alternate providers on Thursday night.
Celebi Airport Services India operated at nine major Indian airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, and Hyderabad. However, the BCAS revoked the company’s security clearance at all nine locations following Turkey’s support for Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor—India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Turkey’s backing of Islamabad and its alleged supply of drones used in Pakistani strikes on Indian territory have sparked widespread outrage in India.
As part of a broader economic backlash, over 125 Indian trade leaders on Friday resolved to boycott all commercial ties with Turkey, including tourism and film production. The decision came during a national conference organized by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in New Delhi, with representatives from 24 states in attendance.
India’s trading community has expressed deep disappointment over Turkey’s position, highlighting it as a betrayal in light of the aid and goodwill previously extended by India.
