India exercises right to respond to terror: Govt on ‘Operation Sindoor’

In a statement on Wednesday, the Indian government emphasized that it had exercised its right to respond to the terror acts emanating from Pakistan. This came after India’s armed forces executed Operation Sindoor, destroying terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in a precision strike.

During a press conference, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, accompanied by Colonel Sophia and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, detailed the operation’s goals and emphasized that India’s response was measured, calibrated, and non-escalatory.

🎯 Objective of India’s Strike:

Misri explained that the Indian strikes were focused on dismantling and decimating terror infrastructure across the border, highlighting that there was no collateral damage from the targeted military action. He reiterated that the operation was intended to strike only verified terror hubs and was conducted with extreme precision.

⚔️ Pakistan’s Continued Support for Terrorism:

Addressing the issue of Pakistan’s ongoing support for terror groups, Misri referred to Sajid Mir, a notorious figure in Lashkar-e-Taiba, and how international pressure failed to halt his activities. “Sajid Mir, despite being declared dead, was resurrected and arrested in Pakistan, exemplifying the country’s continued immunity towards terror elements,” he said.

🌍 Pakistan’s Strategic Agenda:

Misri also emphasized the broader strategy behind the Pahalgam massacre, where 25 Indians and 1 Nepali were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists. He pointed out that the attack was aimed at derailing Jammu and Kashmir’s economic progress by sabotaging the thriving tourism industry.

“Jammu and Kashmir attracted over 23 million tourists last year. With separatism losing traction, Pakistan’s terror proxies launched the attack to maintain influence in the region,” Misri added.

🇮🇳 India’s Measured Response:

The Foreign Secretary concluded by underlining that the Indian government had initially attempted diplomatic measures to address the situation. However, the precise military strikes were necessary to eliminate terror infrastructure and prevent further violence.

“The anger caused by the Pahalgam attack was deeply felt by not only the locals but also the entire nation. Our response was timely, and Operation Sindoor effectively eradicated key terror hubs,” Misri said.
