India’s 78th Independence Day celebrated globally with cultural fervor

India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on Thursday with vibrant events organized by Indian embassies and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) around the world. These celebrations showcased the spirit of patriotism and unity among the Indian diaspora and friends of India globally.

In Nepal, Ambassador Naveen Srivastava led the festivities by hoisting the national flag at a ceremony attended by members of the Indian community, supporters of India, and embassy officials with their families. The event featured stirring renditions of patriotic songs and dance performances by teachers and students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kathmandu.

In Israel, Ambassador Sanjeev Sinha raised the Indian Tricolor after the national anthem and extended warm greetings to the Indian community. “On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, I send my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Indians residing in Israel. Together with my colleagues at the Indian Embassy, I wish you a joyful Independence Day,” he said. However, due to the current security situation, the celebrations were scaled back, with hopes for a larger gathering in the future, he added.

In the Netherlands, The Gandhi Centre marked the day with dynamic performances that highlighted the role of art in India’s freedom struggle and fostered a sense of unity among attendees. In Saudi Arabia, Indian students and community members presented a series of cultural performances brimming with patriotic fervor, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage.

In Japan, Ambassador Sibi George engaged with Indian school students during the Independence Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. The children performed patriotic songs, contributing to the atmosphere of national pride. These global celebrations not only honored India’s independence but also strengthened the cultural connections between the Indian diaspora and their homeland.
