Op Sindoor timeline clear: Jaishankar says Pakistan was informed after the strikes
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday refuted allegations that Pakistan was tipped off ahead of India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, clarifying that Islamabad was informed only after the attacks were carried out.
Addressing a Consultative Committee Meeting of the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar said, “Pakistan was informed 30 minutes after terror hubs were struck.” He outlined the post-strike sequence: the Foreign Secretary was first briefed, followed by a Press Information Bureau statement, and then the Director General of Military Operations communicated with his Pakistani counterpart.
His remarks counter Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that India’s foreign policy had “collapsed” and was being “hyphenated with Pakistan.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. In a 25-minute operation, India destroyed nine terror launchpads in Pakistan and PoK using drones and precision-guided weapons.
Pakistan’s attempted retaliation with drones and artillery was fully repelled by Indian forces. Though both nations agreed to cease hostilities on May 10, Pakistan violated the pact within hours, prompting a stern warning from India.
In his Mann Ki Baat broadcast, Prime Minister Modi shared satellite images of the targeted terror camps and hailed the operation as proof of India’s changing strategic mindset.
India has also sent all-party delegations abroad to present its stance on cross-border terrorism and Operation Sindoor, affirming that it will no longer allow terrorism to go unanswered or narratives to be twisted.
