Operation Sindoor: Women officers detail strikes on 9 terror camps

Two women officers of the Indian Armed Forces — Colonel Sophia and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh — gave a detailed account of Operation Sindoor, in which India struck nine major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) between 1.05 and 1.30 AM on Wednesday.

Addressing the media alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the officers stated that the calibrated military strikes were based on credible intelligence inputs and aimed to destroy terror infrastructure, launch pads, and indoctrination hubs run by groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

🔥 Terror Camps Targeted in PoK:

  • Sawai Nala, Muzaffarabad: Lashkar-e-Taiba training centre, 30 km from LoC. Trained operatives involved in Pahalgam and Gulmarg attacks.
  • Syedna Bilal, Muzaffarabad: Jaish-e-Mohammed camp, now destroyed.
  • Kotli Gulpur: Lashkar base used by attackers of Amarnath pilgrims.
  • Barnala, Bimber: IED and weapons storage centre, 9 km from LoC.
  • Kotli Abbas: Lashkar base, 13 km from LoC, trained suicide bombers.

🎯 Terror Camps Targeted in Pakistan:

  • Sarjal, Sialkot: 6 km from IB; trained terrorists responsible for March 2025 killing of J&K cops.
  • Bahawalpur: JeM headquarters; functioned as a recruitment and indoctrination hub.
  • Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot: Hizbul Mujahideen camp; linked to Pathankot attack.
  • Markaj Taiba, Muridke: Lashkar hub where 26/11 attackers, including Ajmal Kasab, were trained.

Colonel Sophia described the operation as part of a strategic shift in India’s counter-terror doctrine:

“For over three decades, Pakistan has systematically built terror infrastructure. This strike dismantled key nodes of that network.”

Foreign Secretary Misri added that India’s action was measured, proportionate, and defensive, aimed at preventing future terror plots.

Operation Sindoor marks one of India’s most decisive military responses since Balakot 2019, and its execution by a tri-services team in under 25 minutes is being hailed as a significant national security milestone.
