PM Modi Makes Surprise Visit to PM GatiShakti Anubhuti Kendra at Bharat Mandapam

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise visit to the PM GatiShakti Anubhuti Kendra at Bharat Mandapam, coinciding with the third anniversary of the PM GatiShakti initiative. The Anubhuti Kendra highlights the key features, achievements, and milestones of the program.

During his visit, PM Modi praised the significant progress made in project planning and execution nationwide as a result of PM GatiShakti. He emphasized its widespread adoption across various sectors, which is accelerating the realization of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Officials noted that PM GatiShakti is breaking down silos and fostering a unified vision for infrastructure development. PM Modi also visited the ODOP (One District, One Product) Anubhuti Kendra, commending the initiative for aiding in the selection, branding, and promotion of district-specific products.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi took to X to highlight how the scheme enhances multi-modal connectivity. He stated, “The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan has emerged as a transformative initiative aimed at revolutionizing India’s infrastructure. It significantly boosts multimodal connectivity, driving faster and more efficient development across sectors. The integration of various stakeholders has enhanced logistics, reduced delays, and created new opportunities for many.”

The Network Planning Group (NPG) has been working to synchronize efforts across ministries for cohesive infrastructure development, holding 81 meetings and evaluating 213 projects worth ₹15.48 lakh crore.

Through PM GatiShakti, efforts are underway to address last-mile connectivity gaps for seamless transportation. The initiative employs a comprehensive approach, with 1,529 data layers from 44 ministries and 36 states and UTs integrated into the National Master Plan. Regional workshops and capacity-building efforts have further promoted its adoption.

A statement highlighted that 156 infrastructure gaps related to first and last-mile connectivity have been identified across key economic sectors, including coal, steel, fertilizer, and food distribution. Digital surveys are expediting and enhancing project preparation, with the Ministry of Railways planning over 400 projects in just one year, covering 27,000 km of railway lines.

Additionally, PM GatiShakti is optimizing the planning of Anganwadi Centres, focusing on those with greater nutritional needs, and mapping over 10 lakh such centers. It is also being utilized to identify local industries for district-specific skill courses and mapping PM Shri Schools to enhance educational accessibility.

The PM GatiShakti framework has been showcased on various international platforms to foster global collaboration, with ongoing Memoranda of Understanding for knowledge sharing with Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
