PM Modi to Launch Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan in Hazaribagh on October 2
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Jharkhand on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, to launch the ‘Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan’ in Hazaribagh. This initiative aims to uplift tribal-dominated villages and economically empower tribal communities.
Following the launch, PM Modi will address the concluding rally of the BJP’s statewide ‘Parivartan Yatra’.
This will be PM Modi’s second visit to Jharkhand in just over two weeks; on September 15, he inaugurated six Vande Bharat Express trains in Jamshedpur and participated in a BJP rally. Notably, this marks the fourth time he has launched a significant national scheme from Jharkhand, following previous initiatives such as the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (2018), Kisan Maandhan Yojana (2019), and the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in November 2023.
Approved by the Union government on September 18, the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan aims to integrate over 63,000 tribal-dominated villages across 549 districts in 30 states and Union Territories into the development mainstream. With a budget of ₹79,156 crore, the scheme targets over 5 crore individuals from tribal communities.
Key objectives include the construction of 20 lakh houses, 25,000 kilometers of rural roads and bridges, and the provision of clean drinking water, gas, and electricity connections. Additionally, it plans to establish 100 tribal market centers, schools, mobile health units, and skill development centers while preserving tribal culture and traditions and promoting agriculture and horticulture to enhance tribal incomes.
Official sources indicate that after the launch event at Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh, PM Modi will interact with representatives from 33 tribal groups across the country. In his second event, he will address the concluding rally of the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ at Gandhi Maidan in Matwari, which has already covered 76 of the state’s 81 Assembly constituencies since its inauguration by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 20.
