Vance calls PM Modi, offers full US support after Pahalgam terror attack
US Vice President Vance, currently visiting India, called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to express strong condemnation of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and assured complete US support in the joint battle against terrorism.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Vance, who is touring Agra, offered his deepest condolences during the phone call and reaffirmed America’s commitment to stand with India during this tragic time.
“The United States is ready to provide all assistance in the joint fight against terrorism,” Vance said. PM Modi thanked him and US President Donald Trump for their solidarity and support.
Vance also expressed his condolences on social media Tuesday, stating, “Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India… Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
Earlier in the week, Vance and his family had met with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi ahead of scheduled bilateral meetings. This marks the Vice President’s first official visit to India.
Wrapping up a two-nation visit to Italy and India, Vance visited Jaipur and Agra and is scheduled to return to Washington on April 24.
Additionally, US President Donald Trump also called PM Modi to express his outrage over the attack that claimed dozens of innocent lives.
“President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and extended full support to India in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
PM Modi reiterated India’s determination to punish those behind the Pahalgam massacre and acknowledged the global solidarity shown in the wake of the tragedy.
