Celebrating UNESCO recognition of Ramcharitmanas and Panchatantra

We are delighted to share the remarkable news of the UNESCO recognition bestowed upon two iconic treasures of Indian literature: the Ramcharitmanas and the Panchatantra. This momentous honor, announced during the 10th General Meeting of the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP), is a testament to the enduring legacy and global significance of these timeless works.

Different versions of the Ramcharitmanas or Ramayan, penned by the revered saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas and Maharishi Valmik and the Panchatantra, a collection of ancient Indian fables dating back to the 3rd century BCE, have captivated readers across generations with their profound wisdom, moral lessons, and timeless storytelling.

This prestigious recognition not only celebrates the rich literary heritage of India but also underscores the profound influence of Hindu philosophy and culture on the global stage. The Ramcharitmanas and the Panchatantra have left an indelible mark on readers worldwide, transcending boundaries of time and geography to inspire countless hearts and minds.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Hindu community worldwide on this historic achievement, which fills every heart with pride and joy. The inscription of these revered texts in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Regional Register for the 2024 cycle is a testament to their enduring relevance and universal appeal, reaffirming their status as literary treasures of humanity.

We also commend the efforts of the Modi government for their unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. This recognition comes as a fitting tribute following the historic Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya earlier this year, a momentous event that captured the essence of India’s spiritual and cultural ethos.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us reaffirm our commitment to preserving and sharing our literary and cultural heritage with the world, ensuring that the wisdom and teachings of the Ramcharitmanas and the Panchatantra continue to inspire and enlighten future generations.

Best Regards,
