Digital Life Certificate Campaign boosts pension reform
The Digital Life Certificate Campaign has transformed pension disbursal for the elderly, said Union Minister Jitendra Singh, highlighting its use of facial recognition to eliminate in-person bank visits.
Addressing civil servants at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Singh said the campaign abolished outdated rules and simplified processes through a single pension form and a unified fellowship portal.
He also cited broader administrative reforms such as abolishing interviews for certain Group B and C posts, expanding recruitment exams to 13 regional languages, and launching Rozgar Melas to create job opportunities.
Singh underscored the Swachhata Campaign’s role in optimising office space and generating over ₹250 crore from scrap disposal. He praised the Assistant Secretaryship Programme for enhancing officer preparedness during the Covid-19 crisis.
The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence now focus on initiative and impact, while over two dozen regional conferences have promoted decentralised, participatory governance across India.
