Naidu discusses green energy, data centres with Singapore minister
On the second day of his official visit to Singapore, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology, to explore collaboration in key sectors including green energy, data centres, and logistics.
Naidu showcased Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious green energy plans, particularly in green hydrogen, transmission corridors, and port development. He urged Singaporean companies to actively participate in these initiatives.
The Chief Minister emphasized the growing need for data infrastructure and sought Singapore’s expertise in setting up advanced data centres. He also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s rapidly expanding port infrastructure and called for support in implementing global best practices in logistics and port management.
Addressing past concerns of Singapore-based firms, Naidu assured Minister Tan that his administration is taking steps to ensure transparency and rectify issues left by the previous government. He reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s pro-investment stance and appreciation for Singapore’s efficiency and planning.
Reflecting on earlier collaborations, Naidu cited the Singapore Township project in Hyderabad and how Singapore inspired nighttime street-cleaning programs during his prior term.
Naidu also extended a formal invitation to Minister Tan to attend the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam this November.
In response, Dr. Tan expressed Singapore’s strong interest in working with Andhra Pradesh, especially in housing and subsea cable infrastructure. He mentioned ongoing collaboration with the World Bank on green energy and housing, and affirmed his confidence in expanding bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Andhra ministers Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana, T.G. Bharat, and senior state officials, marking a renewed push for international partnerships in Andhra Pradesh’s development agenda.
