ADB Unveils 5-Year Strategy to Enhance Fiji’s Climate Resilience
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced on Tuesday the launch of a new country partnership strategy for Fiji covering 2024-2028, aimed at strengthening the South Pacific nation’s resilience to economic and climate-related challenges.
This five-year plan will focus on enhancing public sector management, improving access to climate-resilient transport infrastructure, and upgrading urban water and wastewater services. According to a press release from the Manila-based bank, the strategy also highlights new areas of focus, including coastal protection for vulnerable communities, the modernization of national healthcare facilities, and the acceleration of Fiji’s transition to renewable energy.
Additionally, the strategy aims to promote private sector investment, advance gender equality, and foster regional cooperation and integration.
The ADB has been a partner to Fiji since 1970, providing 117 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling $991 million.
