Afghan FM backs India, rejects false claims in call with Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a phone call with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Thursday, thanking him for condemning the Pahalgam terror attack and rejecting attempts to create distrust between India and Afghanistan.
“Deeply appreciate his condemnation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack,” Jaishankar posted on X. “Welcomed his firm rejection of recent attempts to create distrust… through false and baseless reports.”
Muttaqi’s statement comes amid Pakistan’s unfounded allegations of Indian missile strikes on Afghan soil—claims that Kabul has labeled “baseless.” Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry and Indian officials have dismissed these accusations, pointing instead to Pakistan’s repeated strikes on Afghan civilian areas in recent years.
Both leaders reaffirmed strong bilateral ties and discussed enhancing cooperation and development efforts.
