AICWA condemns Sahibzada Farhan’s ‘gunfire’ celebration, criticizes BCCI

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned Pakistani cricketer Sahibzada Farhan for his ‘gunfire’ celebration, in which he mimicked firing a gun with his bat after scoring a half-century against India in the ongoing Asia Cup.

In a statement, AICWA reiterated its long-standing position of not engaging with Pakistani nationals in sporting or cultural activities. The body reiterated that no Pakistani artists are allowed in the Indian film industry and warned that Indian filmmakers collaborating with Pakistani performers would face a complete ban.

Referencing the row over Punjabi actor-producer Diljit Dosanjh’s film Sardaar Ji 3, the association said, “Diljit Dosanjh remains banned by us for collaborating with Pakistani artists. AICWA will continue to boycott him until he issues a public apology to the nation.” The body also highlighted previous bans on films like Abir Gulaal, citing a “non-negotiable stance” against normalizing talent from a nation that supports terrorism.

AICWA also criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), calling it “corrupt” and accusing it of prioritizing money over national sentiment. The statement added, “Only our soldiers have the courage to stand fearlessly against Pakistan, while the BCCI bends for profit. Nation comes first, always.”

The association’s comments come in the aftermath of the recent Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, including a Nepali national.
