Air India Flight from Mumbai to New York Diverted to Delhi Due to Bomb Threat
An Air India flight traveling from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi on Monday following a bomb threat.
All passengers are reported safe, and a thorough inspection is currently underway. The aircraft has landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), where authorities are implementing standard safety protocols to ensure the security of everyone on board.
“The flight was rerouted to Delhi due to security concerns related to a bomb threat. It is now parked at IGI Airport, and all necessary safety measures are being taken,” said a spokesperson from the Delhi Police.
Originally en route to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, the plane was redirected to Delhi after a security alert was raised. Officials confirmed that required security drills are in effect, and checks are ongoing.
Further updates are anticipated.
This incident follows a similar situation in September when an Air India flight from Delhi to Visakhapatnam also received a bomb threat, which was later determined to be a hoax after a thorough investigation upon landing. Visakhapatnam Airport Director Raja Reddy stated that the Delhi Police had alerted the airline and the airport in response to the threat.
In August, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport was placed on high alert after another Air India flight from Mumbai reported a bomb threat, which was also found to be a false alarm after extensive checks.
