Singapore envoy celebrates ASEAN Day in New Delhi

Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, joined the ASEAN New Delhi Committee (ANDC) on Friday to mark ASEAN Day with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a video message from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In a post on X, Wong expressed gratitude to the Malaysian High Commission for hosting the event. “Happy to celebrate ASEAN Day with our ANDC Family in New Delhi… Many thanks to our friends at the Malaysian High Commission for organising,” he wrote.

ASEAN, founded in August 1967 in Bangkok, comprises 10 member states — Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Malaysia took over the ANDC chairmanship last month for the July–December 2025 term, succeeding Laos. The handover was formalized at the committee’s 126th meeting on July 9, attended by ASEAN Heads of Mission and representatives in New Delhi.

Under its leadership, Malaysia aims to strengthen ASEAN solidarity and deepen ASEAN-India cooperation in the coming months.
