Baloch activist urges Trump to rethink US ties with Pakistan
Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch has written to former US President Donald Trump, urging recognition of Balochistan and a fundamental reassessment of Washington’s relationship with Pakistan.
In the letter, Mir accused Pakistan’s army and intelligence agency ISI of widespread human rights abuses, including the enforced disappearance of over 40,000 Baloch civilians, and of sheltering global terrorists such as Osama bin Laden. He called Pakistan a “radical state” exploiting Balochistan’s natural wealth while oppressing its secular and peaceful traditions.
He warned that ISI-run terror training centres, including those linked to ISIS and Daesh, have increased, threatening regional and global security. Mir urged the US to engage directly with exiled pro-independence Baloch leaders, led by Hyrbyair Marri of the Free Balochistan Movement, to promote peace, development, and democracy.
