Egypt and Jordan Warn of Dangers from Gaza Conflict and West Bank Violations

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II have expressed concern over the dangers posed by the ongoing Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip and increasing violations in the West Bank.

In a phone conversation on Tuesday, the leaders emphasized that recent developments could escalate tensions, adversely impacting the region and threatening international peace and security, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency.

They reiterated their rejection of any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause or to render Palestinian territories uninhabitable, which could lead to forced displacement of the Palestinian people, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Both leaders called for an immediate end to the war to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Israel initiated a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip following a Hamas attack across the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in around 1,200 fatalities and approximately 250 kidnappings.

The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has reached 41,252, according to a statement from Gaza-based health authorities on Tuesday.
