IDF eliminates key Iranian and Palestinian commanders linked to October 7 attacks

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday confirmed the targeted killing of Saeed Izadi, a top Iranian military figure and orchestrator of Hamas’ October 7 massacre, in a precise airstrike in Iran’s Qom region.

Izadi, commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force, was a key link between Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hamas. In a post on social media platform X, the IDF stated, “Izadi was one of the architects of the Iranian regime’s plan to destroy Israel.” He was also reportedly involved in directing Hamas operations in Lebanon and funding their terrorist activities in Gaza.

The IDF accused Izadi of rebuilding Hamas’ military wing and ensuring their continued dominance in Gaza following the October 7 attacks, which triggered the ongoing conflict.

In a separate operation on June 20, the IDF announced the elimination of Ali Saadi Wasfi al-Agha, a senior commander of the Mujahideen Brigades, a Palestinian militant faction. Al-Agha led the group’s southern Gaza brigades and was considered the likely successor to Assad Abu Sharia, killed earlier this month.

Al-Agha was responsible for multiple attacks on Israeli targets and reportedly oversaw the burial of kidnapped Israeli civilians Gadi Haggai and Judith Weinstein, whose bodies were recovered from Khan Younis.

His elimination occurred during a joint IDF and Shin Bet operation in central Gaza, where he was reportedly hiding.

According to IDF reports, over 300 airstrikes were carried out in the past week across the Gaza Strip, targeting militant strongholds, weapon depots, and sniper positions.
