External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar welcomed Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani in New Delhi on Monday for the 5th meeting of the India–Bahrain High Joint Commission (HJC), aimed at enhancing cooperation across trade, investment, energy, fintech, health, and education.
Jaishankar said he looked forward to “productive discussions” with his Bahraini counterpart. The MEA noted that the visit reflects the “positive momentum” in bilateral relations.
The HJC serves as a key institutional mechanism for reviewing progress and exploring new avenues in the multifaceted India–Bahrain partnership.
India and Bahrain, whose diplomatic ties date back to 1971, share deep historical and cultural links, strengthened by a large Indian diaspora contributing to Bahrain’s economy. Bilateral trade continues to grow, with collaborations expanding in renewable energy, digital technologies, and start-ups.
