India and Denmark strengthen Green Strategic Partnership to boost clean energy transition

India and Denmark have reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating clean energy transitions under their Green Strategic Partnership, as a high-level Indian delegation led by Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary at the Ministry of Power, concluded its visit to Denmark on Wednesday.

During the visit, the delegation engaged with several key energy stakeholders, including the Danish Meteorological Institute, Orsted Balancing Responsible, Middelgrunden Offshore Windfarm, and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency (C2E2). Discussions focused on renewable integration, carbon capture, and the evolving role of thermal assets in a green energy system.

The Embassy of India in Denmark, in collaboration with the Indo-Danish Chamber of Commerce, Dansk Industri, GH2, BrintBranchen, and State of Green, organized an Indo-Danish Roundtable on Green Hydrogen and Maritime Collaboration. Ambassador Manish Prabhat emphasized the need for long-term cooperation in green hydrogen and sustainable energy solutions.

Earlier, Agarwal and Denmark’s Permanent Secretary for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Frelle-Petersen, co-chaired a Steering Committee meeting to review bilateral energy cooperation. The 7th Joint Working Group Meeting on Power, led by India’s Additional Secretary Srikant Nagallapulli and Danish Energy Agency Director Ulrik Eversbusch, also focused on expanding collaboration in renewable technologies.

Energy cooperation remains a core pillar of the India–Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, launched in 2020. The two nations further strengthened ties in May by renewing their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy cooperation. The renewed pact supports India’s net-zero target for 2070 and expands collaboration into advanced areas such as power system modeling, EV charging infrastructure, and cross-border electricity trading.

Both countries reiterated that the partnership will drive innovation, technology exchange, and sustainable development in the global clean energy landscape.
