India and Poland review strategic partnership, focus on 2024–2028 Action Plan
India and Poland held high-level diplomatic discussions in New Delhi on Thursday to review their Strategic Partnership and assess progress on the five-year Joint Action Plan (2024–2028). The talks were led by Sibi George, Secretary (West) at India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Wladyslaw T Bartoszewski, Polish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Following the meeting, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said both sides engaged in “productive discussions,” taking stock of bilateral cooperation and identifying key deliverables under the Action Plan. The Strategic Partnership between India and Poland was elevated during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland in 2024, when both countries also agreed on a structured roadmap for collaboration over five years.
The latest dialogue builds on momentum from earlier engagements. On January 19, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, where they explored deeper cooperation in economic ties, technology, defence, mining, people-to-people exchanges, and multilateral coordination. Jaishankar also acknowledged Poland’s support for stronger India–EU relations.
In December 2024, the two nations held the 11th round of India–Poland Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi. Co-chaired by Sibi George and Bartoszewski, the talks focused on accelerating cooperation in defence and security, science and technology, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.
The MEA noted that discussions also reviewed progress under the Action Plan signed during Modi’s August 2024 visit to Poland. Poland, India’s largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe, reiterated its backing for an early conclusion of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement.
Overall, the meeting underscored growing political trust, expanding economic engagement, and closer strategic coordination between New Delhi and Warsaw amid evolving global challenges.
