Third India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable to be held in New Delhi
The third edition of the India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) will convene in New Delhi on Wednesday, with both nations aiming to broaden and deepen their strategic partnership, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced.
The high-level meeting comes ahead of a possible visit by Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to India next month, according to media reports.
India will be represented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Singapore’s delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister and Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong, joined by Coordinating Minister for National Security and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Digital Development and Information Minister Josephine Teo, Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, and Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow.
India and Singapore upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city-state last year. The ISMR, envisioned by Modi, serves as a platform for setting a forward-looking agenda for bilateral cooperation.
The first ISMR was held in New Delhi in September 2022, followed by the second in Singapore in August 2024. This year’s edition is expected to explore new opportunities for collaboration in trade, technology, infrastructure, and innovation.
In January, Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited India, meeting PM Modi and EAM Jaishankar to discuss joint initiatives in semiconductors, industrial parks, skilling, digitalisation, and futuristic sectors.
