India backs Gaza peace plan at Sharm El-Sheikh summit, MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh represents nation
India reaffirmed its commitment to peace and diplomacy in the Middle East as Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh represented the country at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit on Monday.
The high-level gathering, co-hosted by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, brought together world leaders to reinforce regional stability following the Gaza ceasefire and the release of all remaining hostages.
Emphasising India’s long-standing support for peaceful resolution, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated, “India stands for peace in the Middle East and resolution of issues through dialogue and diplomacy.” New Delhi also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Egypt and Qatar in facilitating the peace process and endorsed President Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
The summit, which Trump described as a “historic opportunity,” focused on fostering sustained cooperation and ensuring that the region’s fragile peace is maintained. President Al-Sisi underlined Egypt’s continuing mediation to bridge divides between conflicting sides.
India’s participation underscored its consistent support for a negotiated two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. Singh’s attendance also reflected India’s growing diplomatic role and balanced foreign policy, aligning humanitarian priorities with strategic interests.
Officials noted that the summit’s outcomes could pave the way for deeper economic and security collaboration, benefiting not only the Middle East but also global peace efforts.
