According to the Indian Navy, the visit reaffirmed the strong maritime partnership between India and Singapore while underscoring both nations’ shared commitment to maintaining a secure, stable and collaborative maritime domain.

Indian Naval Ships (INS) Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet concluded their port call at Singapore on Sunday, marking the successful completion of a key engagement during the fleet’s operational deployment to Southeast Asia.

During the visit, the Eastern Fleet participated in a series of professional interactions with the Republic of Singapore Navy, including cross-deck visits aimed at enhancing interoperability, operational understanding and naval cooperation.

“Professional engagements with the Republic of Singapore Navy included cross-deck visits to strengthen interoperability and maritime cooperation,” the Indian Navy said in a statement shared on X.

Beyond military engagements, the deployment also focused on strengthening people-to-people ties. The visiting ships hosted members of Singapore’s Indian community and diplomatic representatives aboard INS Udaygiri, fostering greater cultural and community engagement.

In a solemn ceremony, Eastern Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Alok Nanda, accompanied by the commanding officers of the three warships, paid tribute to fallen soldiers at Singapore’s Kranji War Memorial. The delegation honored those who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of freedom and peace.

Senior Indian naval officers also met Republic of Singapore Navy Fleet Commander Colonel Ang Chun Hou Bertram to discuss ways to further strengthen maritime defense cooperation between the two countries.

INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti had arrived at Changi Naval Base earlier in the week as part of India’s operational deployment to Southeast Asia. The visit aligns with India’s Act East Policy and Vision MAHASAGAR, reflecting New Delhi’s continued emphasis on enhancing regional maritime partnerships and promoting a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
