Iranian President to Attend UNGA Session in New York

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will depart for New York on Sunday to attend and deliver a speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79), as reported by the official news agency.

His speech is set for September 24, the first day of the high-level General Debate, where he will share the perspectives of the Iranian people, according to Xinhua news agency, citing IRNA.

During his visit, Pezeshkian is expected to meet with Iranian expatriates in the U.S., media and think tank leaders, high-ranking officials from other countries, and religious leaders.

At a press conference in Tehran on Monday, the President stated that his participation in UNGA 79 aims to defend the rights, beliefs, and views of Iranians.

Pezeshkian was sworn in as Iran’s ninth President on July 30, following the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in May.
