Israel Claims Airstrike Kills Hezbollah Operative in Syria
Israel’s military reported that its warplanes conducted an airstrike in southwestern Syria, resulting in the death of a Hezbollah militant.
According to a military statement released on Wednesday, Adham Jahout, identified as a member of Hezbollah’s “Golan Terrorist Network,” was killed in the strike near Quneitra, close to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The military alleged that Jahout was responsible for relaying information from Syrian sources to Hezbollah and for transmitting intelligence from the Syrian front to aid operations against Israel in the Golan region.
Syrian state media previously reported that a policeman was killed in the attack, marking yet another incident in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian and Hezbollah positions in the area. Syria has consistently condemned these strikes as violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Meanwhile, Israel typically refrains from acknowledging specific attacks, stating that its operations aim to thwart the entrenchment of Iranian and Iranian-affiliated forces near its borders.
This latest incident follows an Israeli strike on a residential building in Damascus’s Mazzeh neighborhood the day before, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including women and children, and left 11 others injured.
