Jordan and Slovenia call for solidifying Gaza ceasefire and boosting humanitarian aid

Jordan and Slovenia have emphasized the need to solidify the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the immediate and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid across the Palestinian enclave.

During a meeting in Amman on Sunday, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, according to a statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

Commitment to regional peace and stability

Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria, stressing the need to rebuild the country while upholding unity, combating terrorism, and ensuring the voluntary return of refugees.

He also highlighted Jordan and Slovenia’s commitment to working together on a credible political process to implement the two-state solution, calling it the only viable path to achieving peace, security, and stability in the region.

Strengthening Jordan-Slovenia ties

The two ministers reaffirmed the strong friendship between Jordan and Slovenia and explored ways to enhance cooperation bilaterally and within the European Union across multiple sectors, including:

  • Economy
  • Investment
  • Information technology
  • Tourism
  • Defence and security

Slovenia’s stance on Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria

Fajon reiterated Slovenia’s support for the two-state solution and rejected any forced displacement of Palestinians or annexation of Palestinian land.

She also emphasized Slovenia’s continued backing of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling its role “indispensable and irreplaceable.”

Regarding Lebanon, Fajon stressed the importance of maintaining a ceasefire to restore stability and affirmed Slovenia’s active role within the UN Security Council to support sustainable peace.

She further underscored the need for an inclusive peace process in Syria to safeguard the rights of its people while fostering long-term stability.
