Key Union Ministers Mourn the Passing of Ratan Tata
Key Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, S. Jaishankar, and Hardeep Singh Puri expressed their condolences on Thursday following the demise of visionary business leader Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital due to age-related health issues late Wednesday, at the age of 86.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Ratan Tata, a visionary business leader, an extraordinary nation-builder, and a remarkable human being. His contributions to industry, society, and humanity have left an indelible legacy. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Om Shanti,” said Information and Broadcasting Minister Vaishnaw in a post on X.
Known for his genteel demeanor coupled with sharp business acumen, Tata led Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement on December 28, 2012.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar remarked that Ratan Tata’s passing signifies “the end of an era.” He noted, “He was deeply associated with the modernization and globalization of Indian industry. It was my privilege to interact with him on numerous occasions and benefit from his vision and insights. I join the nation in mourning his demise. Om Shanti.”
Petroleum Minister Puri expressed sadness over the loss of “one of the finest and tallest business stalwarts of our times,” who epitomized ethical business practices while transforming the Tata Group into a $100 billion global conglomerate.
“His unparalleled simplicity and dedication to philanthropy touched millions of lives. He championed causes like education, healthcare, and sanitation, among others. His legacy will inspire generations to come. Heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. Rest in peace,” Puri added on X.
