Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh addressed the reception of the 2nd India-Nordic Track 1.5 Dialogue in Reykjavik alongside Iceland’s Foreign Minister Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir.
In a post on X, Singh expressed his satisfaction at engaging with senior officials, scholars, and think tank representatives from across the Nordic region. He said he looked forward to the formal discussions scheduled during the Dialogue.
During his stay, Singh also visited the Indian Embassy in Reykjavik, where he reviewed progress in the “3 Ts” framework — Trade, Tourism, and Technology — and discussed new ideas to enhance collaboration with Iceland.
On Thursday, Singh held bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Gunnarsdottir, reviewing cooperation in trade and investment, renewable and geothermal energy, and fisheries. He conveyed India’s appreciation for Iceland’s strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. Singh reaffirmed India’s commitment to work closely with Iceland in areas of mutual interest while also discussing global and regional geopolitical developments.
In a social media post following the meeting, Singh wrote, “Pleased to meet H. E Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir, Foreign Minister of Iceland in Reykjavík today. Conveyed our appreciation for the strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack. Reviewed progress made in our bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, geothermal energy, and fisheries.”
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Singh is on a two-day visit to Iceland (September 4–5) to attend the Dialogue and deliver the keynote address at its inaugural session. He is also scheduled to meet the Speaker of the Icelandic Parliament and other dignitaries.
The MEA stated that Singh’s visit will not only strengthen India-Iceland relations but also enhance India’s engagement with the Nordic strategic and research community.
