Kirti Vardhan Singh visits Mozambique, highlights India’s growth and bilateral ties

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, currently on an official visit to Mozambique, interacted with members of the Indian community in Maputo as part of India’s participation in the East African nation’s 50th Independence Day celebrations.

In a post on X, Singh wrote, “Delighted to interact with the members of the Indian community in Maputo. Highlighting the Indian growth story and the inclusive and positive transformations achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Mozambique is home to a vibrant Indian diaspora of about 25,000 people, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Singh’s visit underlines India’s strong diplomatic and people-to-people ties with the country.

During the visit, Singh is scheduled to call on Mozambique’s President Daniel Francisco Chapo and has already held talks with Foreign Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas to further strengthen bilateral relations.

On Tuesday, Singh inaugurated a Jaipur Foot camp in Maputo, funded by the Government of India, in partnership with Mozambique’s Health Minister Ussene Hilario Isse. The initiative will provide artificial limbs to approximately 1,200 beneficiaries.

The minister also visited the historic Salamanga Hindu Temple, describing it as an “abode of peace” and a symbol of the resilience and devotion of the Hindu community in Mozambique. He emphasized the “enduring bonds of unity, peace, and heritage” shared by the two nations.

The visit marks not only Mozambique’s 50 years of independence but also a golden jubilee of India-Mozambique diplomatic relations.
