K’taka BJP Chief Vijayendra: Siddaramaiah’s Resignation Inevitable Over MUDA Scam

B.Y. Vijayendra, President of the Karnataka BJP, stated on Wednesday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation is inevitable in light of his alleged involvement in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.

Vijayendra emphasized that the suspension of the former MUDA Commissioner by Siddaramaiah and the Congress government signifies an acknowledgment of the scam’s existence.

Speaking to the media after launching a membership drive at the BJP state office, Vijayendra urged citizens to stay tuned to the unfolding situation, asserting that Siddaramaiah’s resignation is only a matter of time.

He recalled that Siddaramaiah had previously dismissed allegations related to the Valmiki Corporation scam before later admitting to an Rs 87-crore scandal in the assembly. Similarly, Siddaramaiah had initially denied the MUDA allegations and accused the BJP of political posturing. However, with the case now in court and the former MUDA Commissioner suspended, the gravity of the situation is apparent, Vijayendra said.

Addressing questions about internal divisions within the BJP, Vijayendra suggested that the upcoming High Court ruling would clarify the situation. He also criticized Congress leaders for not appearing at the Governor’s office to address a complaint against BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, questioning the absence of senior Congress figures.

Vijayendra accused the Congress of attempting to divert attention from its corruption issues by targeting the BJP and dismissed attempts to file cases against BJP members as ineffective.

On other matters, Vijayendra criticized the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) for retaining a negligent officer and for scheduling the PSI exam on the same day as the UPSC exam. He called for accountability and better scheduling practices.

Regarding the BJP’s membership drive, Vijayendra announced that the party aims to surpass last year’s record of 1.04 crore memberships. The drive, which follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch in Delhi, aims to register 300 to 400 new members at each booth across all 224 Assembly constituencies.

In celebration of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birthday, Vijayendra highlighted the party’s goal to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
