Maha Kumbh: PM Modi takes holy dip at Sangam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a holy dip at the Sangam on Wednesday during his visit to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi arrived at Arail VIP Ghat, where they waved to an enthusiastic crowd before boarding a boat to reach the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

The boat ride, which began at 10:50 a.m., was part of the Prime Minister’s brief yet significant visit to the Maha Kumbh, a spiritual gathering that attracts millions of devotees.

Upon reaching the Sangam, PM Modi took a holy dip on the Ashtami Tithi of the Magh month, a significant occasion in the Hindu religious calendar. He then offered prayers to the Ganga on the riverbank.

The visit underscores the cultural and spiritual importance of the Kumbh Mela, which draws pilgrims from across the country.

PM Modi is scheduled to return to Arail Ghat by boat at 11:50 a.m. before departing for Prayagraj Airport at 12:30 p.m. His visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.

During his previous visit to Prayagraj on December 13, the Prime Minister inaugurated 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore to improve connectivity, public amenities, and services.

The residents of the region have expressed great joy over the Prime Minister’s presence and his participation in the sacred ritual at the Sangam.

Devotees at the Maha Kumbh believe that PM Modi’s efforts have brought greater recognition to Sanatan Dharma, fostering increased awareness and faith among people.

They emphasized that the Prime Minister’s reverence for Sanatan Dharma makes his second visit to the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh a moment of pride, not just for the residents of Prayagraj but for the entire Sanatan Dharma community.
