18 arrested during anti-Israel protest at Microsoft’s Redmond campus
At least 18 people were arrested after an anti-Israel protest at Microsoft’s Redmond campus in Oregon escalated into vandalism and property damage.
Redmond Police said demonstrators poured paint over the Microsoft sign, blocked a pedestrian bridge with stolen tables and chairs, and resisted removal by officers. Charges included trespassing, resisting arrest, obstruction, and malicious mischief.
The protest, led by the group No Azure for Apartheid, demanded Microsoft cut business ties with Israel, accusing the company of enabling surveillance operations in Gaza and the West Bank.
Microsoft confirmed that protesters vandalized its property and disrupted a local farmer’s market. The company said it has launched an independent probe into claims that its Azure cloud platform was used by the Israeli military, but so far found no evidence of misuse.
Police reported no injuries during the two-day demonstration. Microsoft expressed support for local law enforcement’s response to the unrest.
