PM Modi marks 10 years of Mudra Yojana by interacting with beneficiaries

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a special interaction with beneficiaries of the scheme from across India. The session, held at the Prime Minister’s residence, highlighted the scheme’s transformative role in empowering small entrepreneurs.

During the interaction, PM Modi noted a striking trend — a majority of Mudra loan recipients and repayers are women. “It is eye-opening to see that women are leading the way in applications, repayments, and successful ventures. This reflects the true strength of Viksit Bharat,” he said.

Success Stories from the Ground

Beneficiaries shared powerful stories of how Mudra loans changed their lives. Rana Das from Nagaland, who runs a pet care business called K9 World, thanked PM Modi for enabling NGOs and independent entrepreneurs like him to expand their reach. The Prime Minister encouraged him to showcase his success to the bank that supported him.

Gopikrishnan from Kerala shared how the loan transformed his business and helped him create jobs. When asked about initial fears, he credited government support for boosting his confidence to take that first step.

A young woman, founder of House of Puchka Kitchen, said, “PM Modi guided us like a senior, not like a Prime Minister. He was humble and approachable.” She emphasized how schemes like Mudra are especially helpful for youth who lack initial ideas or capital.

A bakery owner expressed gratitude for the government’s push to uplift the MSME sector, revealing that her monthly turnover now ranges between ₹2 to ₹2.5 lakh.

Another beneficiary candidly discussed initial fears about taking loans. In response, PM Modi remarked, “Mudra Yojana is not about praising Modi. It’s about empowering the youth to create job opportunities for others.”

A young entrepreneur from Gujarat shared how he was able to follow his passion and now earns ₹34,000–₹35,000 a month, despite initial doubts and advice to get work experience first.

A woman from a farmer’s family, who once struggled with poverty, credited the Mudra Yojana for helping her start a business in 2024 and now earn ₹60,000 monthly. “I am independent because of your scheme,” she said.

A Vision for a Progressive India

PM Modi described the scheme as a “silent revolution” that’s building confidence among ordinary citizens. “People may face problems, but they must believe they can overcome them,” he said.

He emphasized that Mudra loans have reached over 52 crore beneficiaries, with loans amounting to ₹33 lakh crore given directly to the people, without any political middlemen. “This isn’t a scheme for the rich — it’s a scheme that puts power into the hands of common Indians,” he stated.

Instead of grand celebrations, the government chose to mark the occasion by listening to people’s feedback and exploring how the scheme can evolve. PM Modi concluded by urging beneficiaries to raise awareness about the scheme in their communities.

Recalling an inspiring street play he witnessed in Gujarat — where children depicted how a small loan changed lives — he said, “Even small steps can change lives. Taking people forward is the foundation of nation-building.”
