Nine Palestinians Killed in Israeli Airstrike on Gaza
At least nine Palestinians have been killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in Jabalia, a town in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources.
The airstrike targeted the residence of Dr. Akram al-Najjar of Al-Quds Open University, located on Gaza Street in Jabalia. The attack resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, including three children and two women, and caused injuries to people in nearby homes, as reported by Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza.
Rescue teams are still searching for those who may be trapped under the debris of the targeted house and adjacent buildings, according to Xinhua news agency. The injured and deceased have been transported to the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, Bassal added.
The Israeli government has not yet commented on the airstrike. The attack is part of a broader Israeli military campaign against Hamas, which began in response to a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, that killed approximately 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages.
The ongoing Israeli offensive has raised the Palestinian death toll in Gaza to 41,020, according to local health authorities.
