Pakistan’s ISI recruits global influencers for anti-India propaganda campaign
In a fresh attempt to shape international perception following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has reportedly launched a global propaganda campaign by hiring foreign influencers to malign India’s image.
According to intelligence sources, a dedicated ISI cell identifies and funds vloggers and online creators who visit India under the guise of tourism. These influencers allegedly film videos portraying India as impoverished — staying in low-cost hotels, eating food meant for the underprivileged, and projecting distorted narratives about life in India.
The campaign also targets Jammu and Kashmir, with several videos referring to it as “Indian-occupied Kashmir,” echoing Islamabad’s stance long rejected by New Delhi. Indian agencies are monitoring these activities, warning that the ISI’s goal is not espionage but perception manipulation.
Earlier, several Indian influencers, including Jyoti Malhotra, were arrested for promoting pro-Pakistan narratives after the Pahalgam terror attack. Reports indicate that the Pakistan High Commission facilitated travel and funding for such influencers, expediting visas and ensuring logistical support.
Facing global ridicule over its failing economy, poor infrastructure, and scrutiny from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Pakistan appears to be using social media propaganda to divert public attention and reshape its international image.
