PM Modi Emphasizes Vision for Developed India by 2047 at NDTV World Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India is advancing with a forward-looking mindset, declaring that future success will be measured by “what we want to achieve” in the coming years. Speaking at the ‘NDTV World Summit 2024’ in the capital, he emphasized that the vision for a developed India by 2047 is integral to this mindset.
“In the last decade, we have constructed 12 crore toilets and provided gas connections to 16 crore homes. But is this enough? My answer is no,” PM Modi stated, reflecting on the nation’s achievements.
He criticized the tradition of comparing the current government’s performance with previous administrations, urging a shift in perspective. “We can no longer find satisfaction in comparing past and present. Our success will be defined by our aspirations,” he added, reinforcing India’s commitment to progress.
During the summit, PM Modi highlighted key accomplishments of his government in the first 125 days of its third term, including three crore new homes for the poor, Rs 9 lakh crore in infrastructure projects, 15 new Vande Bharat trains, eight new airports, a Rs 2 lakh crore package for youth, direct transfers of Rs 21,000 crore to farmers, and health insurance of Rs 5 lakh for senior citizens over 70.
He noted, “For the world, the focus is on Artificial Intelligence (AI), but in India, we are blending Aspirational India with AI. Together, they accelerate our growth.”
PM Modi also reported a 6-7% growth in the Indian stock market and an increase in foreign reserves from $650 billion to over $700 billion. “India is a ray of hope amid global crises. Despite challenges, we maintain a sense of positivity, which is why we are discussing the India Century,” he stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the world is increasingly looking to India for leadership in areas such as semiconductors, renewables, and digital technology amid geopolitical tensions, highlighting the country’s policy continuity.
At the summit, he launched NDTV World, a channel aimed at amplifying Asia and India’s voice on the global stage.
Before the summit, PM Modi remarked on India’s growth trajectory, noting that the “Yuva Shakti” (youth power) is propelling the nation forward.
The event also featured discussions with prominent figures, including Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Barbados PM Mia Mottley, former UK PM David Cameron, Nobel Laureate Paul Romer, and author William Dalrymple.
