PM Modi to visit five nations in July to build global consensus
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a major multi-nation tour from July 2 to 10, visiting countries across Africa, South America, and the Middle East, as India works to build global consensus on countering terrorism and enhancing South-South cooperation.
The visit will include Morocco, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jordan, with the possibility of additional stopovers, officials confirmed.
In Morocco, PM Modi’s visit will mark only the second by an Indian Prime Minister, following Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s historic trip in 1999. India and Morocco have since built strong ties, with over 40 MoUs signed in fields like counter-terrorism, cyber security, and education. Modi’s visit comes amid shared concerns over terrorism in the Sahel region.
Next, Modi may visit Argentina, where bilateral ties were elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2019. He last met Argentine President Javier Milei during the G20 Summit in Rio in 2024, with both leaders reaffirming deepening economic ties.
On July 6–7, PM Modi will participate in the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. He is expected to advocate for a people-centric approach and renewed global focus on adopting a UN Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism.
After Brazil, Modi is likely to visit Trinidad and Tobago, where historical and digital ties have flourished. During the 2023 CARICOM Summit, India’s UPI platform was adopted by the Caribbean nation, marking a milestone in digital diplomacy.
The tour will conclude with a visit to Jordan. PM Modi last held bilateral talks with King Abdullah II in 2018, and both leaders have since maintained regular contact, including condemnation of the April 2025 terror attack in Kashmir.
