PM Modi hails President Murmu’s Independence Day-eve speech as a call for unity and progress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised President Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day-eve address, calling it a “thoughtful” and “inspiring” vision for India’s collective progress and future aspirations.
In a post on X, Modi said, “Rashtrapati Ji has highlighted the collective progress of our nation and the opportunities ahead. She reminded us of the sacrifices that paved the way for India’s freedom and called upon every citizen to contribute towards nation-building.”
President Murmu’s speech, delivered ahead of India’s 79th Independence Day, reflected on the nation’s journey from colonial rule to a vibrant democracy, resilient economy, and leader in technology. She paid tribute to freedom fighters and acknowledged the pain of Partition, observed as Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas.
Calling India the “mother of democracy,” Murmu reaffirmed the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. She highlighted strong economic growth—6.5% GDP, rising exports, and low inflation—alongside welfare schemes that have lifted millions out of poverty.
She cited milestones such as the inauguration of the Kashmir rail link, rapid infrastructure expansion, and urban transformation through metro projects and the AMRUT mission. In healthcare, she lauded Ayushman Bharat, now covering over 55 crore citizens, including all seniors above 70.
Murmu also celebrated India’s leadership in digital payments, the promise of artificial intelligence, and the launch of the India-AI Mission. She urged sustainable development, environmental protection, and responsible lifestyles.
With the Prime Minister’s endorsement, the President’s address emerges as a unifying call for inclusive growth, technological advancement, and civic responsibility as India moves through the Amrit Kaal toward its centenary of independence in 2047.
