PM Modi concludes successful three-nation tour, departs for New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for New Delhi on Thursday after concluding a successful three-nation tour, with Croatia marking the final stop of the visit. This was the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the European country.
The tour began in Cyprus, followed by a visit to Canada for the G7 Summit, and concluded with high-level meetings in Croatia. The trip marked a significant step forward in strengthening India’s bilateral ties with all three nations.
Taking to social media platform X, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote, “PM @narendramodi has emplaned for New Delhi, after a successful three-nation visit to Cyprus, Canada and Croatia.”
In Zagreb, PM Modi was warmly received and held bilateral talks with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. “Grateful to my friend, Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic for the special gesture of showing me the city centre of the historical and culturally rich city of Zagreb,” Modi posted on X.
He shared that both leaders had “productive talks” covering defence and security, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, IT, renewable energy, and technology. Plans were announced for long-term defence cooperation and enhanced research partnerships between academic institutions.
Modi emphasized that India will also share its space expertise with Croatia and explore collaboration in emerging areas like semiconductors, shipbuilding, and connectivity.
Describing the visit as a “truly landmark” one, Modi thanked the Croatian people and government for their hospitality and said the trip marks the beginning of a new chapter in India-Croatia relations.
He noted the coincidence that both leaders are serving third consecutive terms, saying it reflects strong democratic values shared by the two nations.
