Prestigious Aero India 2025 kicks off in Bengaluru: Defence minister calls it ‘Maha Kumbh’ of India’s might
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated Aero India 2025, Asia’s largest five-day air show and the 15th edition of the country’s premier aerospace exhibition, in Bengaluru on Monday. The event has attracted participants from around the world.
Drawing a comparison to the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Singh described Aero India 2025 as a “Maha Kumbh” of India’s military and technological strength.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, he said, “Right now, the Maha Kumbh Mela is taking place in Prayagraj, where people from across India and the world are taking a holy dip. I, too, was fortunate to participate. Similarly, Aero India marks the beginning of another Maha Kumbh in the country.”
He further emphasized the contrast and significance of both events, stating, “The Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj reflects self-esteem, while this Maha Kumbh of Aero India is about Anusandhan (research). Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh focuses on internal strengthening, whereas Aero India highlights external strengthening. The event showcases India’s military and technological might, just as Prayagraj displays India’s rich cultural heritage.”
He also reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of balancing development with heritage, saying, “Vikas bhi aur virasat bhi (development and heritage together) is most appropriate at this moment. Such an event can happen only in India.”
Singh extended his gratitude to India’s armed forces and welcomed international guests with India’s traditional ethos of hospitality. “In India, we follow Atithi Devo Bhava (the guest is God), and I want to share this tradition with all our esteemed guests who have arrived from different parts of the world. India is a warm and welcoming nation, and I extend my heartfelt greetings to all of you,” he said.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was also present at the inauguration.
