One teenager killed, another injured in Sydney stabbing incident

A stabbing attack in western Sydney left one teenager dead and another injured late Wednesday night, police said.

Emergency services were called to a bus station in Mount Druitt, about 38 km west of central Sydney, around 10:10 p.m. after reports of a concern for welfare. Upon arrival, police found two 19-year-old men with stab wounds.

One victim, who suffered chest injuries, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene. The second victim sustained stab wounds to his arm and was taken to hospital in stable condition, according to Xinhua news agency.

Local police established a crime scene, and the homicide squad has joined the investigation. Authorities have not yet released details about possible suspects or motives.

The incident follows another violent stabbing just days earlier in Brisbane. On August 22, two men were hospitalized with serious injuries after being attacked in the northern suburb of Zillmere. Police arrested a 51-year-old man at the scene, who was also taken to hospital under guard for treatment. Investigators confirmed the men were known to each other and stressed there was no broader threat to public safety.

Stabbing incidents in Australia have raised concerns in recent months, with police urging communities to remain vigilant. Investigations into both the Sydney and Brisbane cases are ongoing.
