Trump ‘determined’ to implement ‘revolutionary’ Gaza takeover plan, says Israeli PM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that US President Donald Trump is “very determined” to implement a “revolutionary, creative vision” for the Gaza Strip, which Israel is currently discussing.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting upon his return from Washington, Netanyahu said Trump’s plan offers Israel “many possibilities,” according to a statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

“For an entire year, we have been told that the ‘day after’ in Gaza must involve the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) and the Palestinian Authority. President Trump has presented a completely different vision, one that is much better for the State of Israel,” Netanyahu said.

Key points of Trump’s plan

According to the statement, Netanyahu and Trump have agreed on achieving Israel’s key war objectives, including:

  • The elimination of Hamas.
  • The release of all Israeli hostages.
  • Ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a security threat to Israel.
  • Returning displaced Israeli residents.

Additionally, Netanyahu emphasized that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains another major war objective for Israel.

Trump’s proposal and regional reactions

During a joint press conference with Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday, Trump revealed that the US plans to “take control of the Gaza Strip,” relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries, and redevelop the coastal enclave.

On Thursday, Netanyahu suggested in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14 that Saudi Arabia could “establish a Palestinian state” within its territory, stating, “They have plenty of land there.”

Trump and Netanyahu’s remarks have sparked significant regional and international backlash, with many countries rejecting any forced displacement of Palestinians and reiterating their support for a two-state solution.
