Trump says Israel acted alone in Iran gas field strike, warns against targeting Qatar
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Israel will not carry out further strikes on Iran’s South Pars gas field, signaling an attempt to ease tensions after a sharp escalation in the region.
Speaking in Washington, Trump distanced himself from the earlier Israeli strike on the critical energy site, describing the South Pars gas field as “extremely important and valuable.” He indicated that Israel had assured there would be no additional attacks on the facility.
At the same time, Trump issued a strong warning to Iran, cautioning Tehran against targeting energy infrastructure in Qatar. His remarks come after Iran launched missile attacks on key facilities across the Gulf, including sites in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, in retaliation for the strike on South Pars.
Iran had earlier confirmed that multiple phases of the South Pars gas field—part of the world’s largest natural gas reserve—were hit in the Israeli operation. The attack marked a significant escalation, bringing vital energy infrastructure into the conflict.
The exchange of strikes has raised global concerns about the security of energy supplies and the risk of further escalation across the Middle East. By signaling restraint on future attacks, Trump’s statement appears aimed at preventing a broader disruption to global energy markets and reducing the risk of a prolonged conflict.
