Trump proposes US takeover of Gaza Strip

US President Donald Trump has proposed a plan to resolve the long-standing West Asia crisis by having the United States take over the Gaza Strip. His plan also involves relocating the displaced Palestinian population to shelters in neighboring Egypt and Jordan.

“I strongly believe that the Gaza Strip, which has been a symbol of death and destruction for so many decades, has been very unlucky. It’s been an unlucky place for a long time,” Trump said at a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his first foreign visitor.

Trump suggested that other countries with humanitarian concerns should assist in relocating the 1.8 million Palestinians living in Gaza. He added that the financial burden for this initiative could be borne by wealthy neighboring nations.

“The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling unexploded bombs and weapons, leveling destroyed buildings, and creating economic development that will provide jobs and housing for the people of the area,” he stated.

Emphasizing the uniqueness of his proposal, Trump said, “Just can’t go back. If you go back, it’s going to end up the same way it has for 100 years.”

Expressing optimism about the ongoing ceasefire, he said, “I’m hopeful that this ceasefire could be the beginning of a larger and more enduring peace that will end the bloodshed and killing once and for all.”

Trump also announced several policy moves, including lifting the previous administration’s arms embargo on Israel, withdrawing from the United Nations Human Rights Council, and halting support for the UN Relief and Works Agency, which he accused of channeling funds to Hamas.

Additionally, he reinstated a maximum pressure campaign on Iran, reintroducing aggressive sanctions aimed at reducing Iranian oil exports to zero and curbing its ability to fund terrorism in the region and beyond.
