Two specific pictures of Mamata Banerjee shortlisted for use in Trinamool programmes
West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress leadership has shortlisted two pictures of party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for use in various party programmes, including organisational and public meetings.
One picture features a superimposed smiling face of the Chief Minister, while the other shows a smiling Banerjee with her palms folded together in a greeting gesture.
The decision comes just three weeks before the extended organisational meeting of the Trinamool Congress, which will chart the party’s strategy for the crucial Assembly polls in 2026. The meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 26 or the following day at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in central Kolkata.
The party leadership has communicated this decision to all elected legislators in the Assembly via the WhatsApp group “West Bengal Legislative Assembly Members.” Party insiders noted that the legislators have been advised to use either or both of the shortlisted pictures at the party programmes organised in their respective assembly constituencies.
While such an organisational meeting is held every year in the first quarter, this year’s meeting holds special significance due to the upcoming Assembly elections. Party insiders also mentioned that during the meeting, the Chief Minister might outline a blueprint to counter the negative propaganda by opposition parties and to reach out to the common people by highlighting various social welfare projects initiated by the state government.
Political observers believe that the extended organisational meeting is even more crucial this time, as an organisational reshuffle in Trinamool is likely to take place in the same month, with indications that Banerjee will have the final say in every aspect of the restructuring.
