Under police custody, Manish Sisodia meets ailing wife in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 11 – Under police custody, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, on Saturday met his ailing wife at his previous official residence.

The Delhi Police third Battalion took Sisodia from Tihar jail to home after receiving permission from the Rouse Avenue court.

Sisodia, who is lodged in prison in the excise policy case, on Friday had sought permission to visit his wife, who is undergoing medical treatment.

The court, taking into consideration the humanitarian aspect of the request, granted permission for the visit.

The AAP leader was taken to the premises, which once served as his official residence during his tenure in the Delhi government.

The meeting took place at the official residence, which is now allocated to another AAP leader, Atishi, the current Education Minister of Delhi.

The change in residence allocation occurred after Sisodia stepped down from his position as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Special Judge M K Nagpal granted permission to Sisodia to meet his ailing wife at his home.

The special judge specified that the visit would be conducted between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., with Sisodia to be under police custody during the allowed hours.

Sisodia had filed an application seeking permission to visit his ailing wife for a period of five days, even while in custody.

In response to this request, both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) opposed it. They argued that the accused should have filed an interim bail application, and questioned the legal provisions under which Sisodia sought permission for the visit.
