Baloch activist warns US against granting Pakistan access to Balochistan’s minerals
Prominent Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch has condemned US President Donald Trump’s reported assurance granting Pakistan access to Balochistan’s untapped mineral wealth, calling it a “strategic blunder” that could destabilize the region.
Mir asserted that Balochistan will resist any attempt by Pakistan to exploit its vast reserves of oil, gas, uranium, copper, gold, silver, and rare earth minerals, warning that such resources could be used to fund terrorism and nuclear blackmail.
His remarks came just 48 hours after Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir allegedly threatened nuclear strikes, declaring he could “bring down half the world.” Pakistani leaders, including Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, echoed similar rhetoric.
“The world erred by overlooking Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities, which have now become a global security threat,” Mir stated on X. He accused Islamabad of enabling Iran’s nuclear ambitions and harbouring terrorist networks, including ISIS and Al-Qaeda sleeper cells in Punjab.
Comparing the US move to “handing a loaded gun to a monkey,” Mir cautioned that granting Pakistan control over Balochistan’s resources would escalate terrorism to unprecedented levels, threatening not just South Asia but global stability.
He urged world powers to dismantle Pakistan’s “double game” and shut down terror operations run by its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Failure to act, Mir warned, would lead to catastrophic consequences for global peace and security.
Mir reaffirmed that the Republic of Balochistan is committed to peace and prosperity but will not allow its resources to be used for destabilizing activities.
